Baveno-twinned albite (An0) crystals were found in considerable numbers in a large pocket opened in May 1988 at the Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec.
A big, brown and sharp Siderite crystal sits upright on a sculptural matrix covered with small, white Albite crystals on this fine small cabinet specimen from Mont St-Hilaire. The brawny Siderite measures 5 cm across the diagonal and has razor sharp edges the faces have good luster with low-profile stepped rhombic growth hillocks.
Siderite has been found in pegmatites in crystals up to 25cm on edge. Most crystals are, however, in the 2-3mm range. It is a very common mineral at Mont Saint-Hilaire.
